New Year’s Day Hike, January 1, 2024:
Meet 10:00AM at Bluff Point State Park, 55 Depot Rd, Groton, CT.
We will hike the Bluff Point State Park Eastern Loop, 5.2 miles, as seen on AllTrails, the map of which can be downloaded, with the option of exploring the sand neck facing Mumford Cove, another 1/2 mile, weather and tide conditions to be considered.
Bring hiking poles, Yaktrax, micro spikes, and/or snowshoes if conditions warrant.
Bring your own hot or cold drinks and choice of snacks to suit.
Since all forms of hunting are forbidden here, hikers can omit wearing Orange, which is otherwise suggested by DEEP for those recreating on state and private lands during hunting season.
We would like to encourage an after-hike gathering at one of the many locations close by, to include Panera’s, The Shack and closest of all is The Spot.
