Hike the Selden Creek / Brockway – Hawthorne Preserves, Lyme, Ct.
March 7, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Route of choice includes very scenic overlooks out to Selden Island and Whalebone Creek Ravine, along with some steep hill hiking over unique terrain for 5 ½ – 6 miles, at 2 – 2 ½ mi/hr pace.
Prepare for wet-to-frozen hiking conditions, to include hiking poles, and boot traction as terrain is hilly with wet areas to negotiate. Leashed, good-natured dogs welcome.
Meet by 9:45 AM at the Selden Creek Preserve-Ravine Trail parking pull-off on the West side of Joshuatown Rd. Lyme, Ct for a 10:00 AM start.
Directions: From Old Lyme, take Rt. 156 North through Hamburg Cove, then continue for about ½ mile, turn left onto Joshuatown Rd, travel for 3 ½ -4 miles. Parking area is on the left, opposite preserve sign on right. From Rt. 82-Rt. 148 at Hadlyme Gen. Store, take Rt. 148 / Ferry Rd. West, following signs for Ct. River Hadlyme Ferry, turn left onto Joshuatown Rd. Drive about 1 ½ miles to parking lot on right.
